What is a Tactical Decision Game (TDG)?

A Tactical Decision Game presents a leader with a problem under conditions of uncertainty.

You are given limited information, limited time and the need to decide.

The goal is not to find the perfect answer, but to develop judgment through decision, commitment and reflection.

The value lies not in the answer itself, but in the process of deciding, defending your choice and learning from the outcome.

Art of Command TDG's are built for three modes of play: solo decision-making, adversarial commander-versus-commander play and facilitated decision-forcing discussion. Each format presents the same challenge - making decsions under uncertainty - and enables reflection on both process and outcome.
